WHY THE NAME

THE ORIGIN OF BALLISTICS & GRINDS

Ballistics and Grinds Kettlebell Training is not a coffee company nor a gun outfit.
It’s OK, we get it a lot, however; This name was carefully crafted to reflect different kind of lifts we teach and perform to make the complete competitor.

WHAT'S A BALLISTIC

A Ballistic is a quick, explosive exercise - such as a kettlebell swing, snatch, clean, push-press or jerk - performed for high speed and power before fatigue breaks down form, typically utilized in 10-20 rep ranges to build power endurance. These lifts are accompanied with a hard exhale “TSSSA” all at once. The purpose of Ballistics is to develop power, cardiovascular endurance, and the “what the fudge” strength by training muscle to accelerate and deacceletrate under tension.

In broader terms, ballistic refers to the science of projectiles in flight, derived from the Greek “to throw.”

WHAT'S A GRIND

A Grind is a slow, tension-heavy strength exercise - such as a deadlift, squat or press - performed with high effort to build maximum strength. It is characterized by moving heavy weight intentionally, where the lift slows to a crawl while maintaining strict form. These lifts are accompanied by a slow, biomechanical breath that matches the speed of the lift - turning your abdominals into an air compressor to both protect your spine and “grind” through a heavy lift. These are maximal efforts often involving 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps with a goal to build raw strength and muscle.
